Borders give the foam mats a clean edge and help prevent tripping when entering and exiting the floored area. When you order a corner set, you receive the 2 pieces with the special extended edge that form a single corner. For any rectangular mat that you are bordering all 4 sides, you will need 4 corner sets. The sloped borders are one foot long and work with both the 1 foot mats and the 2 foot mats.

To calculate the number of mat borders you will need, you will need to know the number of feet around the perimeter of the mat. To calculate the perimeter, take the measurements in feet, width plus the length and multiply that by two. That will be the number of border pieces you will need. Every rectangle will need 4 sets of the corner borders. For example, if you have a 5'x10' mat, you will need 30 borders, of which 8 of these pieces will be corner borders and 22 will be straight side borders.
